All Saints Hunters Hill Soccer Football Club

Soccer pennant, 1966

I started playing soccer when I was six years old, when it seemed like a great adventure, and I played with the local club until I was fourteen, when being part of a team and showing up for regimented training and games seemed childish and frustrating.

This was all so long ago as to make no difference to anybody, but it gave me pleasure to write about it all the same. You can read on here, and if you do, I suggest you don’t ignore the endnotes.

  1. Well, Kev,
As we all know, this is just one of the ways in which the adult game today varies from the children’s game of yesteryear. Backs such as you are now the rockstars of football.

  2. Ahem,

Descent into ignominy. Back players essentially ‘black sheep’ of the team.. I’ll remember that.
